Brian Kersten Wisconsin

Following the completion of undergraduate studies, Brian Kersten Wisconsin embarked on a journey that led to the attainment of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1983. His career commenced in mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, where valuable experience and knowledge were gained.

In 1985, a significant career detour was taken when a decision was made to serve in relief and development in Haiti for 2.5 years. During this time, tireless efforts were dedicated to assisting the rural poor of Haiti. This period served as a demonstration of unwavering commitment to animals and a dedication to improving the lives of those in need.

Upon return to the United States in 1987, entry into a mixed animal practice in Baldwin, Wisconsin took place. In 2001, ownership of the course was acquired. This pivotal moment allowed for providing top-notch care to animals within the community. Simultaneously, service as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society occurred from 2001 to 2003.

In 2016, another career shift was made by selling the practice, yet the passion for animal welfare remained steadfast. This calling led to the founding of a low-cost veterinary clinic in 2021, providing vital support to those unable to access regular veterinary care for their beloved pets.

Beyond veterinary medicine, dedication to philanthropy and aiding those in need is a defining characteristic. Active involvement in charitable activities is a testament to the commitment to improving the world.

Volunteering time at Today’s Harvest Food Shelf is one notable endeavor devoted to stocking shelves and assisting needy customers. Involvement in this charitable organization mirrors a profound desire to contribute to the local community and combat food insecurity.

Furthermore, as a staunch supporter of the Mercy Corps humanitarian organization, the commitment to addressing global challenges and extending assistance to communities facing crises is unwavering. Contributions to this organization stand as a shining testament to a boundless sense of compassion and steadfast altruism.
